Moodvies does not guess, detect, or steal your emotional state. You tell us how you feel. That's the entire model.

Moodvies and EmotionalEngine are built on declared signal — you choose to tell us your mood, and in exchange you get a product built for exactly that feeling. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and how to reach us.

1. What we collect

We collect only the data you actively generate by using the product.

  • Mood declarations — the feeling you choose to share with us, voluntarily
  • Interaction events — which films you viewed, swiped on, or opened
  • Ad interaction events — which ads appeared and whether you engaged
  • Technical context — device type, referrer, session timestamps
  • Anonymous session ID — used to connect events within a single visit

We do not collect your name, email, or identity unless you explicitly provide it. We do not use third-party tracking pixels. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

2. Member profiles

You can use Moodvies without creating a profile. Every session is anonymous and ephemeral by default. No device fingerprinting. No cross-session tracking. When you close the tab, we don't know you were here.

If you choose to save a mood profile, you provide your email voluntarily. This creates a persistent profile that remembers your mood history and brand preferences across visits. You opt in. We don't ask until you've used the product enough to want it.

  • Profile creation is entirely optional — the full product works without one
  • Your email is stored only if you explicitly provide it
  • Your mood history and brand-mood votes are tied to your profile, not to your device
  • You can request deletion of your profile and all associated data at any time

3. Brand-mood training

When you vote on which brands fit your current mood (the "sorting hat"), your vote is recorded as a declared brand-mood association. This data is used in aggregate to improve ad placement for all users.

  • Your individual vote is never shared with the brand
  • Brands see aggregate consensus data only — e.g. '73% of users in this mood chose this brand'
  • You are training the engine voluntarily, not being profiled passively

4. How we use it

  • To serve mood-matched movie recommendations during your session
  • To measure whether advertising creative resonates in the emotional context you declared
  • To report aggregate performance data to advertising partners
  • To improve the product

Advertising partners receive aggregate data only. A partner can see that a campaign reached people in an aspirational mood and achieved a certain engagement rate. They cannot see who you are, what you clicked individually, or any data tied to your session.

5. Data retention

Session-level interaction data is retained for operational and product improvement purposes. Aggregate performance reports, which contain no personal data, may be retained indefinitely. If you have questions about your data, contact us at the address below.

6. Declared signal — not surveillance

The core difference between this platform and conventional ad targeting: you told us. You declared your mood. We did not infer it from your browsing history, infer it from behavioral signals, or detect it through any passive mechanism.

  • All emotional signal is voluntarily declared by the user
  • No behavioral inference or affective computing
  • No cameras, microphones, or passive detection of any kind
  • No cookies used for emotional targeting — only for session continuity

Ads delivered for how you're feeling. Not how we think you feel.

7. Enterprise Compliance

For enterprise legal and compliance review — including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and FDA compatibility documentation — see our technical compliance page.
